Veggie Tales, MJM Enter Into Agreement For Japan

(Los Angeles)-MJM Entertainment and Big Idea, creators of the Veggie Tales characters have entered into an agreement that will help bring the loveable cartoon characters to a mass audience in Japan.

The series, which has been released previously in Japan's faith-based market only, is ready to reach out to a broader audience.

"We believe Veggie Tales is poised to reach a much larger audience," noted MJM's Mark Joseph. "Japan is a nation which has lost its moral foundation and busy parents are looking for products that have both entertainment value and can help teach moral values. Veggie Tales provides both of these important values."

MJM's first job will be to re-negotiate the current contract between Big Idea's international distributor and its licensee in Japan to limit rights to the faith-based marketplace which will then allow a strong partner to be found for the mainstream marketplace.

"We're looking forward to Veggie Tales and Big Idea making a big splash in one of the largest markets in the world," said Big Idea president Terry Botwick. "This is clearly an underserved market and we hope to change that very soon."

Before the final contract was negotiated, MJM began preliminary work by presenting the Veggie Tales brand at a Japanese animation convention where many conferees stopped by the Veggie Tales booth to get a good look at the loveable vegetables.
