Sixpence None The Richer Lands NEC Commercial

(Tokyo)-Sixpence None The Richer's smash hit single Kiss Me has been picked by the Japanese electronics giant NEC to appear in a new commercial for the company's latest product, the Simplem computer. The commercial which hit the airwaves in late February and will run for three months.

"We thought this was the perfect song for this ad," commented MJM 's Mark Joseph who helped negotiate the deal. "NEC is one of the world's top electronics companies and Kiss Me is the song that has captured the hearts of young Japanese. This was a great move for both NEC and Sixpence."

In Japan where far fewer people listen to the radio than their counterparts in the US, TV commercials are one of the primary vehicles that drive hit songs and all parties involved are hoping that this latest development will continue to drive sales of the album which have already reached 82,000 units.

"The ad has a young, fresh, hip feel to it which made it important to have the right song for it," noted Ric Rodeheaver of MJM.
